Jean Labourdette (aka Turf One)

Jean Labourdette (aka Turf One) est né en 1976 et a grandi à Malakoff, en banlieue parisienne. En 2001, il s’installe à Montréal où il vit et travaille désormais.De la fin des années 80 jusqu’au début des années 1990, Labourdette peint des tags à Paris et en banlieue sous le pseudomyne de Turf One. Au fil des années, l’artiste autodidacte affine son style et atteint une prolifique pluri-disciplinarité, travaillant comme illustrateur, dessinateur de BD et réalisateur de films. A partir de 2004, il abandonne toute activité commerciale pour ne se consacrer qu’à son art.

Jean Labourdette (aka Turf One) was born in 1976 and raised in Malakoff (a suburb of Paris, France). In 2001, he moved to Montréal, Québéc, Canada, where he is currently based. In the late 80s into the early 90s, Labourdette was a graffiti writer in and around Paris, going by the name of Turf One. Over the years the self-taught artist honed his skills, evolving into a prolific and sought-after multi-disciplinarian, working as an illustrator, comic artist and filmmaker. In 2004, Labourdette abandoned all commercial work in favor of creating fine art.
